Picking the right format and size
WebP, JPG or PNG?
Each format has a job:
- WebP: usually the smallest for photos and graphics, supported by all modern browsers
- JPG: universal for photos; transparent areas become white
- PNG: lossless, best for screenshots, logos and images that need transparency
Choosing a quality setting
For most web photos, 70–80% quality looks the same as the original at a fraction of the size. Go lower for thumbnails, higher for product zoom images.
Resize before you compress
A 4000-pixel photo shown 1200 pixels wide wastes bandwidth. Setting a maximum width of 1920 or 1280 often saves more than lowering quality.
Why image size matters
Large images are the most common reason pages load slowly, which hurts Core Web Vitals, SEO and conversions. Peanut Square builds Odoo and custom websites that optimise images automatically.
