Using structured data for SEO and AI search
What is JSON-LD schema?
JSON-LD is a small block of code that describes a page in a format search engines understand, using the schema.org vocabulary. Google recommends JSON-LD over other formats.
It can make pages eligible for rich results, and it gives AI search tools clear facts about your business, products and content.
Which schema type should I use?
Match the schema to what the page actually shows:
- FAQ: pages with visible questions and answers
- Local business: your contact or location page
- Article: blog posts and news
- Product: product pages with price and availability
- Organization: your home or about page
- Breadcrumb: any page with a breadcrumb trail
Rules to follow
Structured data must match the visible content. Don't mark up reviews, prices or FAQs that visitors can't see on the page, and keep dates and prices up to date.
